The Use of Target Market Research

Market research is important as it allows you to judge if your product is commercially viable (Estay, 2021). It is possible that you believe your idea is very good and marketable however the audience for it may just not be large enough. This allows you to slightly alter your product to appeal to a larger amount of people (Estay, 2021).

When doing marketing it is important to best suit your advertisements towards the audience you feel is most likely to buy your product. This is where market research comes in handy as it allows You to pinpoint the type of people who are most likely to purchase your product (Estay, 2021).

Within the games industry a good example would be creating a retro game. Although games of the time were originally made to appeal to a younger audience, games aping there style largely appeal to that same audience but grown up. A game like that isn’t as likely to appeal to a child now as times have changed.
